Overview
Variable hours per week (potentially up to 27 hours per week). Shift patterns consist of working weekday nights and weekends.
At Westminster House we provide an active, friendly, and welcoming short stay service for adults with learning disabilities, Autism and behaviours that challenge. We ensure that those we care for can engage in an active, fulfilling lifestyle and we need a team of proactive and inspiring casual support workers to support us in this goal.
As part of our team, you’ll enable and support with all kinds of activities encouraging service users to enjoy Island life, from trips to the beach and taking part in community events to supporting with arts and crafts and activities on site. We care for people with a wide range of complex care needs and diverse interests, so you’ll need to tailor your work to suit each person, ensuring everyone is happy and engaged in the activities and experiences that suit them best. You will need to be able to emotionally connect with a diverse range of people, because, as a short stay service, we have ever-changing service users, all with different emotional and physical wellbeing needs. We also specialise in emergency short term care, supporting people during challenging emotional times in their lives.
When you work at Westminster House, you’ll see the results of your hard work and support, as people return to their homes feeling more capable and confident than when they arrived. It’s an extremely rewarding job, and a wonderful feeling to know you are making a positive difference to the lives of others.
