Job Overview
This post is a fixed‑term secondment for 12 months due to maternity leave. It is a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist role (full time, 37.5 hours per week) focused on acquired adult communication and swallowing disorders.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist passionate about working with adults who have complex communication and swallowing difficulties within our community service.
The successful applicant will be fully dysphagia trained, able to manage a caseload independently, and will join a dynamic, friendly and innovative team of therapists and technical instructors delivering high‑quality SLT services to adults in North East Wales.
Main Duties of the Job
With our ‘one team’ approach, you will have a range of opportunities for personal and professional development. The role is primarily community‑based, working across care homes, community hospitals, outpatients and domiciliary settings.
There is a supportive team of SLT practitioners, with specialist Band 7 therapists available for peer support.
Regular whole‑team meetings, clinical supervision, CPD events, and training opportunities (internal and external courses, mentoring, regional and national CEN meetings) are part of the environment.
You will attend therapist‑led and MDT clinics, including Videofluoroscopy, FEES, Joint Voice Clinics, Parkinson’s Clinics, and MND MDT meetings. Participation in service improvements and MDT initiatives is encouraged.
Informal visits to meet the team are welcome. Welsh speaking ability is desirable; English and Welsh speakers are equally welcome.
