The Role
As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you’ll be at the heart of daily life in the home.
You’ll build trusting relationships with young people, support them in developing independence and life skills, and help create a stable, therapeutic environment that encourages progress and emotional recovery.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide direct care and emotional support to children and young people aged 8–17.
* Support with daily routines, including education, appointments, and leisure activities.
* Build positive, consistent relationships founded on trust and respect.
* De‑escalate challenging behaviour using trauma‑informed approaches and positive behaviour support.
* Work collaboratively with the Registered Manager, key professionals, and families to deliver individual care plans.
* Complete accurate and timely recording, safeguarding reports, and incident documentation.
* Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training.
* Undertake sleep‑in shifts as part of a rota to maintain stability and continuity of care.
About You
* A genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
* Strong communication skills and emotional resilience.
* Flexible and reliable with a professional approach.
* Able to work as part of a team and also take initiative when working alone.
* Understanding of safeguarding, trauma, attachment, and child development.
Essential Qualifications
* Experience working with children or young people in a residential, education, or care setting.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable Qualifications
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
* Experience supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), trauma, or crisis backgrounds.
