Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Harlow Council to recruit a Procurement & Contracts Lawyer on a full-time, temporary basis.
Please note that this post requires the successful individual to be based on site at least 2 days per month.

We have good road links to the M11 and M25 and excellent rail connections to London and Stansted Airport, just 35 minutes and 20 minutes away from Harlow respectively.
Job Purpose:
To assist the Legal Services Manager in the provision of innovative, commercially sound, marketable, efficient and effective legal services that ensures that the Council’s interests and values are protected, advanced and enforced.
The Role:
1. To provide legal advice and assistance to the Council, its Chief and Senior Officers Client Officers Members appointed Statutory Directors and similar.
2. To undertake complex high risk non-contentious matters and to appear as Advocate before the Courts on behalf of the Council.
3. To undertake conduct of non-contentious procurement, contract and companies matters and ancillary non contentious transactions
4. To attend and act as legal advisor to Committees, Sub Committees, Meetings and similar meetings as required.
5. To keep informed of developments in areas fields of law of immediate concern to the Council and to advise the Council, Chief Officer, Senior Management, Client Departments, Officers Statutory Directors and Members as appropriate
6. To undertake any and all statutory and delegated duties as required
7. To advance promote and assist in the shaping and development of the delivery of Legal Services.
8. To assist with the processes required by LEXCEL accreditation.
