Salary: Up to £50,(Apply online only) per annum depending on experience - including on call allowance
Hours: 45 hours a week

Location: Reading/Trowbridge/Aylesbury/Selhurst/Bristol/Salisbury/Exeter/Tyseley.

Key Responsibilities
As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll deliver hands‑on technical support to rolling stock operations across multiple UK sites and customer locations. You’ll play a key role in ensuring equipment remains reliable throughout its lifecycle while providing safe, efficient and consistent service to customers.
The role involves responding to call‑outs, coordinating directly with customers to access trains, diagnosing faults using structured work instructions, and implementing effective solutions to return assets to service.
Diagnosing faults using structured work instructions
Respond to call‑outs and coordinate directly with customers to access trains and plan work efficiently.
Identify the most effective corrective actions to return assets to service safely and quickly
Diagnose faults using structured work instructions and established engineering procedures.
Replace faulty components on site or escalate issues when specialist support is required.
Carry out thorough functional testing before releasing equipment back to the customer.
Maintain a strong customer‑focused approach, ensuring clear communication and consistent service delivery.
Essential Requirements
ONC or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Previous experience in a similar role and backgrounds including Forces/Plant/HGV/Agricultural or similar.
Strong technical capability with proven fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
Practical experience working with engines, diagnostics and relevant technical environments.
Confident IT user, including MS Excel and operating laptops and tablets for engineering tasks.
Able to produce clear, accurate and well‑structured technical reports.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, maintaining a professional approach in all interactions.
