We are seeking an experienced Contractors Engineering Manager to lead and assure engineering excellence across a portfolio of major rail infrastructure projects.
This is a key regional leadership role, responsible for Engineering Quality and Assurance, supporting project and commercial teams, and driving high standards across all stages of delivery.
As one of the UK’s leading providers of rail infrastructure solutions, we’re looking for a collaborative, accountable and forward-thinking Civil Engineer with proven railway experience and the ambition to progress into a senior leadership position within the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the regional engineering function, ensuring compliance with railway standards and managing derogations
* Act as Contractor’s Engineering Manager (CEM) on allocated projects
* Provide line management, mentoring and support to engineering staff and graduates
* Oversee Engineering Assurance submissions for temporary and permanent works
* Coordinate with design supply chain and project teams to optimise buildability
* Manage Technical Queries (TQs), scope changes and GI requirements
* Plan and facilitate surveys including rail access, WPP/TBS and Risk Assessments
* Support CREs with IDCs and temporary works documentation
* Provide engineering input into bids and client meetings
* Drive best practice, innovation and continuous improvement
* Ensure projects meet programme, budget and quality targets
About You
* Proven Civil Engineering experience within a railway environment (essential)
* Previous CRE experience (essential)
* Previous CEM and Design Management experience (desirable)
* Strong knowledge of railway standards
* Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
* Full UK Driving Licence
Qualifications
* BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering (minimum)
* Member of ICE (or equivalent professional body)
