SEN Teaching Assistant - Psychology Graduate | Secondary School | Waltham Forest, East London | September Start

Are you a Psychology graduate or someone with a strong interest in mental health and education? Do you want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs (SEN)? If you're compassionate, proactive, and looking to gain hands-on experience in a school setting, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

About the Role: A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Waltham Forest, East London, is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. You'll play a vital role in supporting students aged 11-16 with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills in a supportive educational setting before pursuing further training in psychology, mental health, teaching or youth work.

Who This Role is Perfect For: ️ Aspiring Educational or Clinical Psychologists ️ Future SEN Teachers or Mental Health Practitioners ️ Psychology graduates seeking meaningful, real-world experience

Requirements


* A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related subject (2:1 or above preferred)
* Experience working with children or young people in any capacity (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, care work, youth support)
* A genuine interest in SEN, mental health, and inclusive education
* Excellent communication skills, patience, and emotional resilience
* Right to work in the UK
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Key Responsibilities

* Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN
* Adapting resources and lesson materials with the class teacher
* Supporting students' emotional well-being, confidence, and behaviour
* Collaborating with SENCo, teachers, and external professionals
* Helping to create an inclusive, respectful learning environment
* Engaging in training and CPD opportunities offered by the school

Location: Waltham Forest, East London Start Date: September 2025 Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only Salary: £100-£110 per day (depending on experience)
