Training Programme Director – Obstetrics & Gynaecology KSS
An outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Training Programme Director for Obstetrics & Gynaecology KSS, focusing on ST1/2 trainees and the organisation of regional training days. This is a 4‑hour per week vacancy. We pay a contribution towards salary of £10k per annum for 1 session (4 hours) per week. For variations in hours, the contribution is paid pro‑rata. The role is offered on a secondment basis; successful candidates must secure written agreement from their Trust for release from clinical work for the specified number of sessions.
Main duties of the job
* Oversee the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Training Programme
* Handle specialty‑specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns
* Recruitment to training posts and programmes
* Postgraduate programme management, including assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, OOP management, trainee career support, less‑than‑full‑time training, inter‑deanery transfers, academic training and other related work‑streams.
Qualifications
* Fellowship of a College/Faculty, professional association and/or body
* Attendance at courses aimed at supporting educational development
* Qualification such as PG Cert, diploma or Master of Medical Education
Employment/Experience
* Experience working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context
* Experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi‑professional team
* Demonstrable track record of delivery of service and education
* Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies and NHS organisations
* Understanding of the workforce transformation agenda
* Trained and experienced in recruitment, selection and equity & diversity within the last 3 years
* Active involvement in and up‑to‑date with the appraisal process
* Knowledge of the NHS, its structures and processes including workforce matters
* Applicants who are doctors must hold a licence to practice
* Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education
* Awareness of funding streams for healthcare education
* Understanding of current health and social care and education policy

Additional Information
Applicants from within the NHS will be offered on a secondment basis only; agreement should be obtained from the employer prior to submitting the application. Compensation is based on TPD sessional payments and may vary according to experience. All candidates will be subject to a written agreement with their Trust for release from clinical duties.
