Want to be the reason why people should’ve gone to Specsavers? As an Optometrist here, you’ll be the go-to for eye examinations and contact lens services, helping us keep the nation seeing 20/20.
You’ll work with the store team to deliver high-standard clinical care and customer service to meet both patient needs and business objectives. And of course, you’ll be a key part in creating a warm and friendly environment for our customers and our team.
Our store
Specsavers in Barry is looking for an ambitious and talented Optometrist to join their thriving store on a part-time basis. This busy practice hosts 7 full-size test rooms, all with easy patient access, and is easily commutable from Cardiff by car within 30 minutes. The practice is equipped with modern technical diagnostic equipment; perfect for those seeking clinical advancement, utilising higher accreditations or aiming for equity shareholding in the future. This is a great practice for anyone wanting to develop their career, both clinically and professionally. Colleague development is a priority, whether you want to obtain higher accreditations such as IP or are interested in becoming a director someday. We are committed to fostering growth and providing opportunities for colleagues to reach their full potential, with support from our senior management and directors.
In October 2023, a new contract for the delivery of eye care services in the community came into force in Wales - Wales General Ophthalmic Services (WGOS). Under the new regulations, optometrists will be able to fully utilise their higher professional accreditations when delivering eye care at primary level.
Non-WGOS registered Optometrists can contact HEIW at heiw.optometry@wales.nhs.uk for information on mandatory training, and NWSSP at nwssp-primarycareservices@wales.nhs.uk for registration details.
