Database Engineer
* Annual Salary: £35,000 - £37,000
* Location: Redcar, Teesside
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
* Install and maintain database and GIS infrastructure according to organizational standards.
* Manage technical links between GIS and various departmental systems, including software patches and upgrades.
* Uphold data standards compliant with data protection regulations and create detailed database documentation.
* Develop automated tools for managing database capacity and performance.
* Monitor database growth, manage access permissions, and ensure security measures are in place.
* Implement effective storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures.
* Administer databases with a focus on GIS, and manage related software licenses and hardware.
* Provide advanced support to staff, assist in disaster recovery, and ensure business continuity.
* Maintain regular communication with technical and operational teams to secure database integrity.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Demonstrable experience in database and GIS administration within a corporate or public sector setting.
* Strong knowledge of database management systems and GIS software.
* Proficient in maintaining data standards and understanding data protection laws.
* Skilled in developing GIS services using HTML and Java.
* Excellent project management abilities and teamwork skills.
* Capable of managing external suppliers and overseeing web server administration.
