NHS Lanarkshire is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Upper Limb to join our Trauma and Orthopaedic Service based primarily at University Hospital Wishaw, with cross‑site working as required. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a forward‑thinking and evolving service delivering high‑quality care across both elective and trauma pathways. The successful candidate will provide specialist upper limb orthopaedic care, including shoulder, elbow and hand surgery, alongside contributing to outpatient clinics, operative sessions and the trauma rota.
This locum post is offered for 12 months on a full‑time basis (10 PAs).
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist upper limb orthopaedic care, including shoulder, elbow and hand surgery
* Contribute to outpatient clinics, operative sessions and the trauma rota
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, supporting safe and effective patient care
* Contribute to service development, governance and quality improvement initiatives aligned with orthopaedic redesign programmes
Qualifications
* Fully registered with the GMC
* Relevant experience in upper limb orthopaedic surgery
* Commitment to clinical governance, teamwork and service improvement
