Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Plant Technician is responsible for the operation of all plant processing equipment and routine basic maintenance in a highly automated chemical facility. The role requires 12‑hour shift work and a commitment to safety.
* Operate and maintain all plant processes.
* Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs; document all activities.
* Operate the DCS (Distributed Control System) for the plant.
* Safely perform basic electrical troubleshooting.
* Follow start‑up, shut‑down, cleaning, and batching procedures.
* Maintain accurate and timely logs.
* Collect and test quality control samples; interpret QA/QC results and adjust plant operations.
* Assist in preventive and predictive maintenance on all equipment.
* Keep the plant clean by following the sanitation schedule.
* Notify management of safety, environmental, quality, and production concerns.
* Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance.
* Maintain a team environment and champion POET in the community.
Qualifications & Skills
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Experience in a production environment preferred.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
* Working knowledge in math, reading comprehension, and mechanical reasoning.
* Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
* Experience with Maximo or other software systems (preferred).
* Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
* Adhere to all safety requirements at all times.
* Must be able to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment (training provided).
* Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and carry up to 40 lbs.
* Frequently stand, bend, and reach at arm’s length to gather samples.
* Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs and pull up to 85 lbs with or without assistance.
* Work in multiple environments including plant, laboratory, and office at temperatures from –20 to +100°F.
* Pass a pre‑screen drug and alcohol test; subject to random tests during employment.
