Role Information
The school is seeking a skilled, detail-driven Finance Officer to support the smooth and compliant running of all financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Processing purchase orders, invoices, and payments
* Managing expense claims and reconciling financial transactions
* Monitoring departmental budgets and reporting variances
* Supporting month-end and year-end financial procedures
* Preparing financial reports for SLT and governors
* Managing petty cash, school trip payments, and parental finance queries
* Supporting payroll processes and liaising with external payroll providers
* Maintaining accurate financial records in line with audit requirements
* Supporting procurement, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring value for money
* Ensuring compliance with financial policies, ESFA regulations, and internal controls
* Assisting with fund allocation, grants, and income reconciliation
This role requires accuracy, responsibility, and excellent communication skills as you will interact with staff, suppliers, and parents regularly.
Requirements
* Previous experience in a finance or accounts-based role
* Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
* Confident using finance software (SIMS FMS / PS Financials / Sage / Xero)
* Ability to organise workload, meet deadlines, and maintain compliance
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Understanding of school finance (desirable but not essential)
* AAT qualification or willingness to work towards one (advantageous)
