Job Description: Support Worker (Complex Needs)Role Overview

Support Worker required to provide person-centred care and support to service users with learning disabilities (LD), autism, and mental health needs, including complex needs and challenging behaviour. This is a temporary, ad-hoc role with shifts paid at £13 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

• Support service users with personal care, including:
• Washing, dressing, toileting
• Support with dignity, consent, and choice
• Manage and respond to challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support approaches.
• Support daily living and community engagement in line with care plans.
• Assist with:
• Medication administration (where trained and authorised)
• Food hygiene and food preparation
• Dysphagia support needs (e.g., safe swallowing strategies as required)
• Diabetes awareness (recognise and respond to care needs, follow plans)
• Epilepsy awareness (understand seizure plans and escalation procedures)
• Carry out moving and handling safely and confidently, in line with training and risk assessments.
• Promote independence and well-being while maintaining safety at all times.

Essential Requirements

• At least 12 months of UK care experience.
• Experience supporting people with:
• LD, autism, and mental health needs
• Complex needs and/or challenging behaviour
• Ability to support personal care, including intimate care.
• Knowledge/experience relevant to:
• Medication administration
• Diabetes awareness
• Dysphagia
• Epilepsy awareness
• Food hygiene/preparation
• Moving and handling

Contract Details

• Type: Temporary, ad-hoc shifts
• Pay rate:£13 per hour
