Role Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Full time Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic and enthusiastic therapy team based at Dawlish Hospital. This role focuses on supporting the delivery of Physiotherapy assessment and rehabilitation programmes for patients admitted to medical wards, facilitating them to recover and leave hospital as quickly as possible.
If you enjoy working within a rehabilitative setting and have a passion for supporting a home first approach for our patients, then this role could be for you. Our patients present with a wide variety of conditions including general medical, orthopaedic and long-term conditions therefore offering clinical variety. This post would suit someone with existing band 6 experience who is looking to develop their clinical and leadership skills in a supportive environment. We will also consider applications for this post as a developmental role from suitable Band 5 candidates.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of physiotherapy assessment and rehabilitation programmes for patients admitted to medical wards.
* Facilitate patients to recover and leave hospital as quickly as possible.
* Implement a home‑first approach to patient care.
* Develop and improve the physiotherapy service within the Dawlish community hospital ward, under the supervision of the B‑7 Inpatient Therapy Manager.
* Work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, communicating effectively and understanding hospital discharge processes.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience of health care of the older person.
* Experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist across a broad range of rotations including respiratory, neuro, T&O and hospital discharge.
* Experience as a Band 6 physiotherapist in a relevant field.
* Experience of service development and improvement (desirable).
* Previous experience supporting student placements (desirable).
* Staff management experience.
* Diploma or degree in physiotherapy.
* Current HCPC registration.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development, including attendance at recent postgraduate courses relevant to the clinical field.
* Post‑graduate training in a health‑care‑of‑the‑elderly field (desirable).
* Excellent communication skills and good understanding of hospital discharge processes.
Person Specification
We are looking for a physiotherapist who demonstrates a compassionate approach to both staff and patients, is comfortable working within a team, and can work autonomously in a healthcare setting. Strong leadership skills, an ability to develop service provision, and a commitment to ongoing professional development are essential.
