Job Summary
Salaried GP joining West Leeds Family Practice to work between 4 – 6 sessions per week. The expected start date is 6th April 2026 but the successful candidate may be able to start earlier. The practice is based over 3 sites all close to each other. Our supportive team are well established, friendly, hardworking and dedicated to providing a good experience for the patient and a pleasant working environment. The opportunity is available to both newly qualified and experienced GPs.
About Us
West Leeds Family Practice is a forward‑thinking professional organisation and a high‑achieving QOF Practice. We have 21,000 patients and a large team of GPs, Nurses, HCAs and administration. We are a Training Practice for both GP Registrars and Leeds University Medical Students.
In‑house services for our patients include:
* Family planning service providers for both Implants and Coil devices
* Minor surgery including joint injections
* Paramedic home visiting team support
* Pharmacy Team including PCN Pharmacist support
* Social Prescribers and Occupational Therapists
* Physio First service
* Ultrasound scanning
* Community Matron support and Frailty Nurse support
Job Responsibilities
* Make yourself available in accordance with the practice timetable to undertake surgery consultations, telephone consultations, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred by other health‑care workers within the organisation.
* Assess the health‑care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease‑management protocols.
* Provide counselling and health education.
* Admit or discharge patients from the caseload and refer to other care providers when appropriate.
* Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Collect data for audit purposes.
* Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible.
* Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) when clinically appropriate.
* Maintain awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
* Commit to life‑long learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practice.
* Contribute to evaluation, audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.

* Registered to practice.
* Current UK professional registration.
