A close-knit, family-owned main contractor based in Barking is seeking a talented Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team.

With over 30 years of success in the industry, this company has built a strong reputation within the commercial and residential sectors, particularly in refurbishment projects across Essex and London.

Operating across various sectors-including commercial, community, education, health, heritage, residential, leisure, and the performing arts-they manage projects ranging from £1 million to £20 million throughout Central and Greater London, as well as the North and Eastern Home Counties.

The Quantity Surveyor Role

The successful Quantity Surveyor will have the opportunity to manage the commercial aspects of projects from procurement through to final account agreement. This role involves exposure to the full project lifecycle, with involvement across pre-construction through to project delivery. The role also requires the ability to remeasure subcontractor work and experience working on projects up to £20 million in value.

The Quantity Surveyor

The incoming Quantity Surveyor will have:

1. A HNC or Construction related degree qualification is beneficial
2. Previous Quantity Surveying experience with a Main Contractor
3. Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
4. Proficiency in producing bills of quantities from drawings and remeasuring accounts
5. Must be able to remeasure subcontractor work accurately
6. Experience working on projects up to £20 million
7. Excellent numeracy, verbal communication, and IT skills (MS Excel and Word)
