Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Nursery Deputy to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and childcare with a minimum Level 3 Qualification in Childcare, with the ability to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for children and team. We are a small family run nursery with lots of fun and passion for what we do and we would love to meet another team member who shares the same passion for working with our Little Learners
This position is for full time hour plus flexible working week between 7:30 - 18:00 Monday to Friday all year round. At times there will be a possibility of over time to cover staff holidays and notice will be given ahead of these.
We operate 51 weeks of the year with one week closure for Christmas week and Bank Holidays.
Deputy manager duties and responsibilities
The deputy manager has a broad range of responsibilities, including administrative duties, strategy and organising a team along side our Setting Manager.
* Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Ofsted requirements, having achieved good/outstanding Ofsted results.
* Inspire, support and nurture room staff where required.
* Stepping in as manager when the general manager is off work or unavailable
* Able to work with HR to hire and train new staff
* Can delegate tasks effectively to team members while taking responsibility for the outcome
* Helps team members to follow company rules and guidelines
* Helps the setting manager to make important decisions related to administration, projects and management procedures
* Can summarise team activities in order to keep senior managers informed

Room Responsibilities
Provide high-quality care and education for children aged 0-5 years in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and support staff to do the same.
* Develop and implement engaging activities that promote learning through play, fostering children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
* Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to build strong relationships and ensure a supportive nursery environment.
* Manage daily routines, including meal times, nap times, and outdoor play, ensuring children's health and safety at all times.
* Observe and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records to inform planning and support individual learning needs.
* Work collaboratively with the nursery team to create an inclusive atmosphere that respects diversity and promotes positive behaviour.
* Drive initiatives that enhance the nursery's educational offerings and contribute to continuous improvement.
Skills
* Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
* Experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting is essential.
* Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with children, parents, and colleagues.
* Leadership qualities to inspire and guide other team members while fostering a positive team environment.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
* A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development through creative play and learning experiences.
