Evening Shift Manager

About the Role
Our client is a well-established food manufacturing business operating within a fast-paced production environment.
They are seeking a proactive and hands-on Evening Shift Manager to oversee production operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency targets are consistently achieved.
This role requires someone who can take ownership of the shift, manage teams effectively, and drive performance while maintaining high standards across health & safety, quality, and compliance .
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure all food safety and health & safety standards are adhered to at all times
Report all accidents immediately and support investigations and corrective actions
Ensure all staff are wearing correct PPE
Complete safety start-up checks thoroughly
Maintain GMP and housekeeping standards across the production area
Quality & Production Control
Ensure all CCP checks and documentation are completed accurately and on time
Report all quality issues promptly
Manage and control line KPIs to ensure targets are met
Ensure correct staffing levels are maintained across production lines
Check ingredients and packaging availability to meet production schedules
Team & Operational Management
Manage day-to-day production activities to achieve output targets
Oversee absence management and report accordingly
Ensure clear handovers to oncoming teams
Complete outstanding actions and address production issues proactively
Communication & Continuous Improvement
Liaise with internal departments including Engineering, Quality, and Logistics
Raise work orders for Engineering to resolve breakdowns efficiently
Support NPD trials and site visits
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce non-conformances
Ensure compliance with company policies and accurate production documentation
Carry out any additional duties as required by the Shift Supervisor
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience within a manufacturing environment (food industry preferred)
Experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
Strong understanding of health & safety and food safety standards
Experience managing KPIs and production targets
Good communication and organisational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Proactive, reliable, and solution-focused approach
Desirable:
Experience with metal detection systems
Experience with checkweighers (weight control systems)
Experience within chocolate or confectionery production
