The Technical Director will play a central role in leading technical delivery and governance. This includes overseeing fire remediation project management and reporting up to the delivery director (fire engineering services), supporting the broader team on technical and contractual matters, and contributing to quality assurance and operational performance.
This senior role will require excellent communication, leadership and project management skills, along with a collaborative and proactive mindset. The successful candidate will also be responsible for team leadership, training and development, and supporting the business commercially.
Main Responsibilities:
Project & Technical Leadership
* Lead on technical issues affecting the business and ensure compliance with fire safety and building regulations.
* Support technical staff and contribute to brainstorming meetings
* Oversee and support scoping and coordination of pre-contract investigations, surveys and due diligence.
* Draft, review and amend PCSA, JCT and other relevant contract documentation.
* Deliver project management and front-end delivery on key schemes.
* Prepare detailed specifications, employers’ requirements and contract documents using NBS and JCT IFC.
* Administer pre-construction activities and manage tendering under single and two-stage procurement.
* Represent the company with clients, consultants, contractors, and residents.
Quality Management
* Collaborate on updates and changes to the Quality Management System (QMS).
* Advise on procurement strategies and contract negotiations.
* Review appointment documents and provide recommendations.
* Act as team leader for TL checks and quality assurance.
Team & Operational Management
* Provide technical advice and mentoring to staff across teams and offices.
* Manage staff workloads, fee income, and HR-related activity as a team leader.
* Support delivery staff through induction and ongoing technical oversight.
* Contribute to the resolution of complex schemes and contractual issues.
Collaboration, Communication & Development
* Work with the London and Sevenoaks offices to ensure alignment across project delivery.
* Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing, brainstorming sessions and training initiatives.
* Attend and report back on CPD activities in technical, contractual, and procedural areas.
* Assist with bid writing, marketing and framework submissions.
* Attend learning activities in technical, contract and procedural matters and feed back to Directors and staff
