This role does not offer sponsorship.\n\nAs part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Business Manager to join our close-knit team at New Barn School, part of Acorn Education.\n\nAbout the role\n\nThe Business Manager is responsible for managing the strategy and operation of the business functions of our school, including human resources, financial management, health and safety, compliance and administration. \n\nThey will advise on and implement the day-to-day support that enables the school and college to operate effectively and efficiently, and that allows other members of the leadership team to focus on teaching and learning.\n\nSome of the responsibilities of the School Business Manager are:\n\nBe responsible for line-managing Admin, Catering, Cleaning and Facilities Teams, including carrying out long-term resource planning and managing recruitment, appraisal and professional development\n\nUnder the direction of the executive headteacher, support the executive head on all financial matters in school, to ensure the school’s successful financial performance and to ensure financial decisions are clearly linked to the school’s strategic goals.\n\nEnsure that recruitment, appraisal, disciplinary and grievance policies are administered in accordance with employment law\n\nAdvise on HR issues within school and liaise with the HR Team\n\nIn partnership with the executive headteacher, manage the school’s budget and ensure it is balanced, realistic, and represents an effective use of funds\n\nWith the School Administration Officer, ensure that all student data is accurately recorded and maintained\n\nWho we are looking for\n\nThe ideal candidate will have the following experience/qualifications\n\nA degree - ideally in human resource, accountancy, business management or a related discipline\n\nA school business management qualification\n\nSuccessful leadership and management experience in a school, or in a relevant field outside education,\n\nPrevious involvement in school/business self-evaluation and improvement planning\n\nLine Management experience\n\nQualifications Required\n\nGCSE English and Maths\n\nAbout the School\n\nNew Barn School offers a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum to boys and girls, aged 6–19 years who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health complexities.\n\nNew Barn School takes full advantage of its beautiful settings and fosters a love for using the outdoor curriculum including forest school, farm experiences and horse riding.
