Are you a proactive and energetic Registered Nurse with a passion for making a real difference to improve the outcomes of children, young people and families? Alongside this do you also have an interest in reducing oral health inequalities, by focusing on oral health promotion to improve the oral health of children in Leeds? If the answer is yes, why not apply for our newly advertised Band 5 0-19 Staff Nurse post. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 registered nurse to join the 0-19 PHINS, due to additional Public Health Funding which is directed at improving Oral Health Outcomes for children and young people. This permanent band 5 post will focus initially on working within an Oral Health band 5 role for up to 8 months and will then rotate into the existing band 5 0-19 Staff Nurse role. T he successful applicant will initially be working alongside the Oral Health Promotion Leads delivering a wide range of health promotion activities including targeted 1:1 intervention work with children and families. The successful applicant will also build links with local schools and other key partner agencies supporting the oral health agenda work. Following your initial 8 months you will receive preceptorship into the generic 0-19 staff nurse post whichinvolves the promotion of health and well-being for preschool/school aged children, young people and families in a variety of settings. This role has potential for development into the SCPHN role on acceptance to the relevant course. Oral Health responsibilities: Contribute to the development of the oral health improvement agenda across LCH Services, following local and national guidelines/protocols in providing evidence based oral health promotion advice. Support the development of oral health improvement resources/programmes identified in local and national strategies. Assist with established health improvement campaigns/programmes. Support and contribute health assessments to scope and identify Oral Health needs in Schools, pre-school and other community settings with 1:1 or group interventions in line with evidence based Oral Health promotion programmes- and focus on vulnerable and at-risk children and families Be involved in Targeted work with children and families in the home/school setting Make contact and participate in oral health strategy work with other key partners. Support the Oral Health Lead with other work that may be required. Actively participate in team meetings, professional development meetings, audits and training to support the role. Staff nurse role responsibilities: Supporting families with children who have complex needs Undertaking health needs assessments and attending review meetings for children looked after. Triage A&E attendances and offer follow up support.
