Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Temporary Works Coordinator / Chief Engineer to join a leading infrastructure team on a major long-term project. Based in Sellafield, this role forms part of a significant multi-year framework, contributing to one of the UK's most ambitious infrastructure developments.
This position offers a chance to play a vital role in coordinating and managing temporary works across various construction phases, working alongside a highly collaborative team. It's ideal for individuals with a strong background in civil or structural engineering and a proven track record in temporary works coordination.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the coordination and management of multiple temporary works packages (self-delivered and sub-contracted), including but not limited to site setup, bulk earthworks, road pavements, storm and foul drainage, and reinforced concrete structures.
* Support the project from early development through to completion, ensuring temporary works are designed, implemented, and dismantled safely and efficiently.
* Develop and maintain the Temporary Works Register, ensuring compliance, programming, and assurance processes are followed.
* Act as the main point of contact between temporary works designers and the site team or contractors.
* Ensure design briefs are appropriate, consultative, and reflective of actual site requirements.
* Review and approve temporary works designs, ensuring required design checks are completed and documented.
* Oversee the safe erection, maintenance, and dismantling of temporary works, issuing necessary permits to load and dismantle.
* Implement change control processes and ensure any adjustments are properly managed and documented.
* Conduct audits and inspections to verify compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards.
* Liaise with internal teams and subcontractors to manage technical interfaces and resolve coordination challenges.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all temporary works documentation and inspections.
Requirements
* Valid Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) Certification (CITB or equivalent)
* Valid CSCS card
* Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Proven experience managing temporary works on large-scale infrastructure or construction projects
* Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
* Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
* Full UK driving licence
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working on nuclear or regulated infrastructure projects
* Familiarity with the Sellafield site standards and procedures
* Understanding of T-minus 12-week work package planning
* Knowledge of nuclear-grade quality standards and tolerances
* Prior involvement in high-value, complex construction environments
