We are seeking two enthusiastic and motivated Care Support Workers to join our vibrant Day Services team at Portland Charity. The role involves supporting our citizens to enjoy their time with us while developing social skills, confidence, independence and overall wellbeing. You will ensure all care needs are met, including personal care, feeding, and moving and handling.
The successful candidates will have experience supporting individuals with a wide range of needs, including profound and multiple learning disabilities, sensory needs and behaviour support. You will be passionate about delivering high‑quality care, helping citizens engage in meaningful activities, and confident in sharing creative ideas.
This varied role includes working in our Day Centre on the main campus, as well as in the community and at our local hub sites. You will support a range of activities such as cooking, gardening, sensory sessions and arts and crafts. You will also maintain accurate records and follow care plans, therefore basic literacy and IT skills are essential.
To succeed in this role, you will be caring, flexible and professional, with the ability to adapt to daily demands. You will communicate effectively and work closely with a supportive team across Day Services and the wider college to help citizens thrive and have a lifetime of opportunity.
As this role involves regulated activity, you will be required to carry out a full enhanced with barred lists DBS check as part of our pre‑employment checks.
Working Hours
Our Day Service is open 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year and is registered with our Local Authority. The core working hours for these posts will be 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday; however, some flexibility is required to meet the needs of the service.
Qualifications
Essential
* Completion of the Care Certificate – this can be completed in‑role if not yet achieved.
* Completion of the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent, or be willing to work towards this qualification.
Desirable
* Level 2 or equivalent in Maths and English.
