As a Google Systems Engineer, you will:
* Deploy Google Distributed Cloud Hosted (GDCH) solutions at customer sites and internal reference deployments.
* Develop expertise in deploying and operating GDCH solutions.
* Perform troubleshooting and resolution of infrastructure issues (Network, Storage, Servers, OS, Kubernetes, etc.).
* Interact with customers and internal teams to achieve shared goals.
* Participate in deployments and training for customers, partners, and internal teams, which may require international travel.
* Deliver train-the-trainer programs to enable customers and partners to conduct deployments effectively.
Required skills and experience:
* Systems automation, design, implementation, and technical infrastructure (deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting).
* Experience with IaaS solutions (Kubernetes, virtualization, hybrid cloud, etc.) and cloud storage solutions (SQL, Google App Engine, cloud networking, distributed computing).
* Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking concepts (PXE, subnets, VLANs, Jumbo Frames, LACP, NIC teaming, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, SSH, etc.) and infrastructure areas like Linux, Kubernetes, Storage.
* Experience as a Customer Solution Engineer.
* Scripting skills (Bash, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.) for automation.
* Experience in Site Reliability Engineering or IT production systems.
* Troubleshooting workload issues across multi-node environments and incident management.
* Understanding of physical servers, storage, and network devices.
* Strong relationship-building skills and customer empathy.

Location: Your home office can be in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, or Glasgow. The role involves client-facing work and may require up to 75% travel within the UK and overseas, depending on project needs.
Flexibility and mobility are essential for onsite client and partner engagements to deliver excellent service.
