The Role
As a Controls Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and delivering automation solutions for a wide range of projects — from machine upgrades and modifications to fully bespoke automation systems.
This is a varied and hands-on position where you’ll take ownership of projects from initial design through to commissioning, collaborating with multiple departments to ensure high-quality, cost-effective solutions are delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities:
* Working with the design team to develop control solutions for automation projects
* Producing detailed electrical and pneumatic schematics using AutoCAD
* Creating accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and entering them into the ERP system
* Developing and programming PLC, HMI and servo control software
* Producing Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
* Supporting projects through manufacture, build and commissioning
* Providing regular project updates and gaining approval on new designs
* Ensuring systems are delivered efficiently, safely and to specification
Experience required:
* Qualification in Electrical or Controls Engineering (Apprenticeship, HNC, HND or equivalent)
* Strong experience using AutoCAD for electrical and pneumatic schematics
* Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000 and/or Siemens / Omron control platforms
* Experience designing control systems for automated manufacturing machinery
