We are looking for a Research Scientist or Senior Scientist, Peptide Chemistry, who is agile and innovative to join us in our UK Discovery Chemistry group based in Slough, UK (Windlesham 2027).
About This Role
For this laboratory-based position, we are seeking a creative and skilled peptide chemistry expert. This is a scientific position with primary responsibilities including the synthesis, design, optimization, and evaluation of macrocyclic peptide hits or leads for producing clinical candidates, including peptides with oral activity.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of peptide chemistry including publications and/or patents, and presentations.
Who You’ll Work With
Reporting to Head of UK Discovery Chemistry.
What You’ll Do
* Understand the goals and strategies of the project team and develop and execute innovative and effective synthetic strategies aligned to team objectives, including the development of versatile and modular routes compatible with rapid target synthesis.
* Use scientific literature and provide solutions to technical problems, proactively facilitate the discussion and implementation of scientific and technological advancements throughout global chemistry.
* Develops a broad understanding of the drug discovery process, such as intellectual property, biology, pharmacology, DMPK and toxicology.
* Critically assess program data, independently derive SAR understanding and generate critical hypotheses to address project challenges. Provide balanced contributions on synthetic and medicinal chemistry. Demonstrate excellent synthetic chemistry expertise to enable the timely delivery of key target molecules.
* Influence project direction and present medicinal chemistry results. Contribute to matrix team discussions on significance of data and interpretation thereof.
Interested? For this role you’ll need the following education, experience and skills
* Ph.D. in organic chemistry, chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, or a related field with a track record of contributions to peptide chemistry synthesis.
* Post Doc experience in a relevant chemistry science sector is preferred.
* You will have a strong knowledge of peptide chemistry including publications and/or patents, and presentations.
* Able to communicate clearly and effectively with key stakeholders within Global Chemistry and adjacent departments.
