Purpose of the role
The purpose of a Product Owner is to maximize the value of the product by defining a clear product vision, managing authoring, refining and prioritising the Product Backlog, and balancing trade‑offs across desirability, viability and feasibility – ensuring the right thing is being built and prioritising work based on business goals. The Product Owner acts as the primary liaison between stakeholders and delivery teams, ensuring the product meets user/customer needs and delivers optimal value. Responsibilities include developing a roadmap, driving execution of the product area, and applying continuous improvement principles and techniques.
Accountabilities
* Ensure product & its features are aligned with broader business objectives and contribute to the organisation’s overall strategy.
* Utilise market research, customer feedback and industry trends to identify new products, features or enhancements.
* Communicate the product vision and goals to delivery teams, ensuring they understand, align with and are inspired to deliver business value.
* Write clear, concise user stories with detailed acceptance criteria and refine them as needed.
* Participate in key Agile events such as sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives to keep the team aligned.
* Manage the product backlog, prioritising features based on value, customer requirements and organisational impact.
* Act as the voice of the customer by continuously gathering feedback and ensuring the product meets user needs.
* Review and accept or reject completed work during sprints, ensuring all delivered features meet acceptance criteria and deliver business value.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define product goals and align the vision with business objectives.
* Monitor product performance using KPIs and customer feedback, adjusting the backlog and roadmap accordingly.
* Manage readiness and run activities of live products, including monitoring, governance and approvals.
* Identify and mitigate risks, developing strategies to resolve or elevate them as necessary.

Skills and experience required
* Project management experience.
* Customer journey design.
* Commercial acumen.
* Marketing experience.
* Experience managing end‑to‑end customer journey experiments.
* Ability to communicate requirements to technology teams.
* Knowledge of risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital technology.
