Job Specification
Position Type: Full Time 37.5 hours per week
Working Hours:
Standard office hours are 8:15am to 5:00pm, Monday to Thursday (Office), and 8:00am to 12:30pm on Fridays (Work from Home).
The post holder may be required to work additional hours as operationally necessary for proper performance of duties. Flexibility will be required to support specific tasks or events such as VIP visits or key meetings. Time off in lieu will be provided. Overtime is not paid.
Reporting Lines
This role reports to the Project Manager. In the absence of the Project Manager or for certain day-to-day tasks, the post holder will be directed by the Head of Projects as needed.
Purpose of the Job Description
Accountabilities
Promote business investment and growth within SME businesses throughout the region
Collect and analyse information regarding local business priorities and project objectives
Collaborate with the Project Team to deliver the priorities of the Supply Chain Transition Investment Zone project
Drive stakeholder engagement to support the sustainability of the Project Team and identify future collaborative project opportunities
Responsibilities Provide full project support for programmes delivered across the region
Maintain knowledge of the SME business support infrastructure and build relationships with SMEs to support growth
Assist in managing key projects to ensure delivery timelines, stakeholder engagement, and budget compliance
Facilitate engagement with SMEs, larger businesses, and partner organisations to raise awareness of relevant projects
Support consultations related to regional and sub-regional business opportunities
Manage stakeholder relationships to enhance opportunities for local businesses and community organisation
Record progress and interactions using the CRM system; ensure accuracy and timeliness
Produce reports for local and central government as well as internal stakeholders
Proactively network within the local business and enterprise communities
Support and participate in events and workshops promoting business support initiatives
Share insights and findings with the team and partners to shape future planning
Work collaboratively across internal and external projects to ensure region-wide support
Stay informed of national and local business development policies, especially those impacting SMEs
Uphold confidentiality and comply with data protection standards
Monitor and report health & safety concerns and maintain relevant records
Person Specification
Qualifications
(Essential) GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
(Desirable) Degree level education (or equivalent)
(Desirable) Qualifications in business, economic development, or business advice and guidance
(Desirable) Project Management or Programme Support qualification
Experience and Knowledge
(Essential) Knowledge of business and/or project management
(Essential) Experience building relationships and partnerships with external organisations and businesses
(Desirable) Experience in project or contract management, or business development
Skills and Abilities
Ability to manage high volumes of work, set priorities, and meet deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement
Skilled in project support and report writing
Excellent networking and relationship management abilities
Proficient in IT, including document and presentation preparation (MS Office)
(Desirable) Knowledge of Dynamics CRM or similar systems
(Desirable) Understanding of business investment and public-sector processes
