Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Stocken, a category C prison located in Oakham. The site houses 1,285 adult males. The Pharmacy at HMP Stocken is not a dispensary pharmacy; there are 6 dispensary hatches within medication/administration points. The pharmacy team consists of a Pharmacist, a Pharmacy Technician and a Dispenser.
Hours and Salary
Hours
The site currently offers:
* Monday – Sunday service 37.5 hours per week
* Mon-Fri 07:30–17:30
* Sat/Sun/bank holidays 08:30–17:30
Salary
This position is full time; you’ll receive an annual salary between £33,232 – £40,211 per annum, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Pharmacy Technician, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Ensure patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensure standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard
* Ensure timely administration of medicines and participate in cost-effective prescribing as defined through the health in justice medicines policy
* Collaborate with colleagues to support patients and contribute to a positive, supportive work environment
* Communicate complex or sensitive information with empathy and understanding to patients
* Share information relating to pharmaceutical products, medicines optimisation, drug regimes, medicines legislation and general health education so the multidisciplinary team are appropriately informed

Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent qualifications and current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Essential: post-qualification experience in a pharmacy environment and with a multidisciplinary team
* Essential: ability to work unsupervised while following policy and procedures
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
