Job Description
The Fisher Scientific Channel is building a bridge between business and science as the single source for a comprehensive range of laboratory equipment, chemicals, instruments, life sciences reagents, and consumable supplies.
The Regional Sales Manager – Inside Sales leads a team of sales representatives within a defined territory. They sell research products and services primarily through telephone communication, utilizing email, Internet, and other technology. This role is accountable for ensuring the team maintains effective customer relations, develops opportunities for growth within existing customer bases, and ensures market penetration and profitability while achieving sales and profit forecasts.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement a sales strategy for a region to achieve revenue and gross margin targets based on company financial models.
2. Develop strategies that incorporate and align with Thermo Fisher's objectives into the overall segment and region strategy, leveraging digital technology.
3. Drive product sales to support supplier partnerships and actively promote core products and valuable services.
4. Proactively lead account managers’ performance through regular reviews and standard processes.
5. Ensure your team adheres to company procedures and policies.
6. Continuously measure personal and team success against business plans, making necessary adjustments to meet or exceed targets.
7. Own the strategic direction for the region, guiding the sales team to achieve sales goals and expand business.
8. Conduct sales calls and manage vendor relations with all customers and potential customers.
9. Share market insights with the company regarding supply and price trends and assist in inventory management.
Experience, Qualifications, and Proficiencies:
* A Bachelor’s degree in Science or Business, along with significant relevant industry-specific experience, preferably in the research laboratory industry, or equivalent work experience.
* Strong sales management experience with proven leadership abilities.
* Comprehensive business understanding and exposure.
* Excellent selling and presentation skills.
* Full professional proficiency in English.
* Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 25% for customer and internal meetings.
* Successful management experience leading teams, with a track record of achieving positive results. Ability to develop business plans, sales strategies, coach teams, and motivate them to overcome obstacles.
* Deep understanding of profitability levers across customers and the ability to develop growth strategies.
* Ability to monitor market conditions proactively and adjust strategies accordingly; skilled in preparing proposals and responses for presentations and RFPs, with a strategic approach to delivery.
* Experience in developing strategic business plans with teams, focusing on goal attainment and exceeding targets.
* Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with sales force software is a plus.
