Our Community Mental Health (CMH) Team is dedicated to creating a supportive environment where staff are empowered to thrive.

Achieve Something Great

The Older People's Mental Health (OPMH) Community Teams are a vital part of mental health service delivery within SWSLHD. This role offers the opportunity to work meaningfully in the community, supporting older adults experiencing mental health concerns who may be living independently, with family, or within Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF). As a Community Mental Health Professional within the Liverpool/Bankstown OPMH Service, you will deliver recovery oriented, person centred biopsychosocial assessment, care planning and interventions, ensuring care is responsive to the complex and evolving needs of older people. Your practice will reflect collaboration, dignity and respect at all stages of service delivery. You will be supported to strengthen and refine your specialist skills through structured supervision, clinical support and ongoing professional development, while working as part of a committed and experienced multidisciplinary team. This service also offers clear pathways to progress into senior clinical and leadership roles, underpinned by a strong supervisory framework that actively supports your professional development and long term career aspirations.

As a pool clinician, you'll begin by supporting one of our teams to fill a current vacancy. As new opportunities arise across our mental health services, you may be offered the chance to transition to other teams—providing you with valuable experience and exposure across the diverse services within SWSLHD Community Mental Health. Future roles may become available at Ingleburn, Bankstown, Campbelltown, Ambarvale, Liverpool, Fairfield, and Wollondilly.

Are You the Right Fit?

We are seeking a qualified and experienced mental health clinician with demonstrated experience working with older adults in a health or community setting. You will bring experience in comprehensive assessment, care planning and evidence based interventions, along with a strong commitment to recovery oriented, person centred biopsychosocial practice within a community mental health environment. You will be confident working collaboratively with consumers, carers, families, GPs, Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF) and community service providers, and you will have sound knowledge of psychiatric medications and the ability to work within relevant legal and ethical frameworks, including the NSW Mental Health Act 2007. You will also be willing to participate in supervision, performance development and ongoing professional learning in line with NSW Health requirements. This role suits clinicians seeking stable weekday hours Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm (subject to operational needs) while making a meaningful difference in the lives of older people and their families within the community.
