NHS Forth Valley is one of 14 regional health boards in Scotland and serves a population of nearly 310,000 in a diverse geographical area which covers the heart of Scotland and covers three council areas Clackmannanshire, Stirling and Falkirk. We provide a range of primary, community based and acute hospital services and have strong strategic partnerships with our two Integration Joint Boards, three Local Authorities and our local University and College Boards.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an engaging and inspiring professional leader to join NHS Forth Valley as Chief Nurse within the Acute Services Directorate. This is a strategic and operational leadership role, providing professional leadership and working directly with the Acute Services Director to support safe delivery of care across the Acute Directorate, including playing an active role in contributing to the strategic management of services and influencing of future service delivery in NHS Forth Valley.
The post holder will provide visible leadership (clinical and operational), expert professional direction across multiple diverse services, influence and affect change at executive, clinical, service development and administration levels of the organisation ensuring local and national aims are met to the agreed quality standard.
The post holder will contribute to the corporate management of the Acute Directorate and assist the Director of Nursing in achieving the Executive Directorate's objectives to deliver effective policies and strategy in order that the highest-level professional standards which underpin excellent outcomes for patients are deployed in all nursing services. The post holder will operate with significant autonomy, combining specialist knowledge and skills to lead all aspects of nursing across areas of responsibility.
The successful candidate will bring experience, at the highest professional leadership level, of developing and demonstrating excellent people management skills and an ability to work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
The Chief Nurse is accountable to the Director of Acute Services and professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing.
Candidates must be educated to degree level with evidence of:
* First degree and Post Graduate Masters’ Degree or demonstrate working at this level
* A registered nurse on the NMC register
* Significant senior nursing leadership/management experience in the NHS
