Pastoral Teaching Assistant
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Location: Burnley
Contract: Full-time, temporary
Pay: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour (dependent on experience)
We are looking for a Pastoral Teaching Assistant to join a supportive alternative provision in Burnley. This is a full-time temporary position working with secondary-aged students who present challenging behaviour and require additional pastoral and academic support.
The Role:
* Provide one-to-one and small-group pastoral support to students.
* Assist in managing behaviour and promoting positive engagement in lessons.
* Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and support teams to develop strategies that meet individual student needs.
* Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural development to help them succeed both in and out of the classroom.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and act as a positive role model.
Requirements:
* Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviour.
* Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, confident approach.
* Background in alternative provision, SEND, or pastoral support is desirable.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them reach their potential.
