Job Description
Quality Technician
Location: Minsterley (Shrewsbury)
Contract: Permanent / Full-time
Shift pattern: 4 on 4 off, 6-6 (days only)
We are currently recruiting a Quality Technician for our Minsterley site.
The Quality Technician will work as part of the QC team, responsible for ensuring products meet microbiological, physical, and chemical specifications and are of the highest standards prior to dispatch. The role involves collaboration across Microbiology and Analytical areas, supporting Operations in resolving ongoing Quality issues and investigation studies to identify root causes.
The successful candidate should have a keen eye for detail, the ability to work independently, good communication skills (written and oral), and dairy experience. A proactive attitude and a desire to build a career in quality are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct physical and chemical testing of products, semi-finished goods, utilities, chemicals, and other elements according to site standards.
* Adhere to sample schedules, ensure compliance, validation, verification, and maintenance within QMP/EMP.
* Complete all required testing, including routine and non-routine.
* Manage Daily Product Review (Taste Panel), ensuring samples are prepared and data logged accurately.
* Collect, label, and record samples for external analysis (nutritional testing, allergens, pesticides, etc.).
* Perform general lab duties: cleaning, reagent preparation, glassware cleaning.
* Conduct microbiological testing of raw materials, products, and environmental monitoring points.
* Confirm and escalate out-of-spec micro results promptly, including contract lab results.
* Create and complete SP and micro complaint timelines, input relevant results.
* Initiate and execute microbiological investigations plant-wide.
* Collect and submit water samples for external analysis.
* Verify finished product shelf life annually.
Experience and Skills required:
* Science qualification.
* Experience in analytical chemistry.
* Dairy industry experience.
* HACCP Level 2.
* Food safety Level 3.
* Proficiency in IT skills, including SAP.
* Internal auditing (desirable).
