Respiratory Specialist Nurses

This is an exciting opportunity for a band 6 nurse to join our well-established and supportive respiratory nursing team.

The role offers the variety of working across the acute setting and in the community. The team supports patients with COPD, Asthma, and those requiring home oxygen across the Vale of York. We hold clinics across three sites: Tang Hall, Selby War Memorial Hospital, and York Hospital. The service operating hours are Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) between 08:00-16:30.
As this role encompasses three sites, you must be able to transport yourself between them and hold a current UK driving license.
The ability to transport yourself and equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day is required for this vacancy.

Main duties of the job
In this role, you will:
1. Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
2. Collaborate with the Multi-Disciplinary Teams, contributing to the development of the Home Oxygen Service-Assessment and Review (HOS-AR).
3. Run nurse-led clinics supporting the Advanced Nurse Specialist.
4. Support ward staff in managing COPD and Asthma patients.
5. Assist nursing and medical staff in the safe management of oxygen therapy.
6. Perform comprehensive assessments of patient needs.
7. Support a caseload of respiratory and non-respiratory patients requiring LTOT, ambulatory, and palliative oxygen, providing community follow-up and ongoing telephone contact.
8. Support the development and daily operation of the Early Supported Discharge Service (ESDS).
9. Assist the Advanced Nurse Specialist in providing education for staff at all levels, both within and outside formal training programs.
10. Participate in regular training, clinical reasoning, peer review, and professional development activities.
11. Engage in evidence-based audits and research projects to improve practice, including developing and implementing service protocols.

Qualifications and Training
* Registered Nurse (Level 1)
* Post-registration qualification in COPD and Asthma (e.g., Diploma)
* Degree level education or equivalent
* Non-medical prescriber or willingness to work towards it
* Teaching qualification or equivalent experience
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience in running nurse-led clinics
