Job Summary
The Youth Support Worker plays a vital role in supporting and empowering young people through various activities and programmes. This position involves working closely with young people to promote their independence, personal, social, and educational development. The Youth Support Worker will create a safe and engaging environment where young individuals can thrive, learn, and grow.
All roles will work directly in a supported accommodation setting for 16-18 year olds, with 24 hour shift patterns (sleep in rate included between 12am-6am), working alongside professionals to deliver a tailored support package.
Duties
* Facilitate engaging activities that promote learning and personal development for young people.
* Provide mentorship and guidance to youth, helping them navigate challenges and set achievable goals.
* Collaborate with schools, families, and community organisations to support the needs of young people.
* Develop tailored programmes that cater to the unique needs of individuals, including those with special educational requirements.
* Monitor and evaluate the progress of young people, providing feedback and support as necessary.
* Maintain accurate records of activities, incidents, and progress reports to ensure effective communication with stakeholders.
* Foster a positive atmosphere that encourages participation, respect, and teamwork among youth.
Skills
* Proven experience working with children or in youth work settings is essential.
* Strong mentoring abilities to guide young individuals effectively.
* Teaching skills that enable the delivery of educational content in an engaging manner.
* Familiarity with special education practices is advantageous for supporting diverse learning needs.
* Excellent communication skills to build rapport with young people, families, and colleagues.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating initiative when required.
