Finance Manager - Management Account - Hemel Hempstead
Description
We are looking for a Management Accountant to oversee and manage the preparation of Butlin's periodic management accounts, supporting decision-making and helping the business understand its financial performance on a weekly and periodic basis. You will collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to provide insightful analysis, financial modelling, and ad-hoc reporting, making recommendations to support effective decisions. You will work within a growing team and engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders across Butlin's resorts and support centre.
Key Accountabilities
1. Management Accounting & Reporting: Lead the weekly, month-end, and year-end P&L close processes, ensuring accurate and timely journal entries. Prepare management accounts, review financial variances, and report performance insights. Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning in collaboration with operational teams.
2. Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends and recommend actions. Produce ad-hoc analyses and financial models to assist decision-making.
3. Cost Control & Efficiency: Monitor business costs and drive efficiency improvements across departments to optimize financial performance.
4. Stakeholder Engagement: Provide financial guidance to departmental heads and present reports to non-finance teams and senior leadership, ensuring clear understanding of financial implications.
5. Compliance & Controls: Maintain a strong internal control environment, ensure compliance with regulations and standards, and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
6. Team Leadership and Development: Mentor junior team members, contribute to their development, and participate in decisions regarding team structure, responsibilities, processes, and improvements.
7. Ad Hoc Projects: Lead or support finance transformation initiatives, providing financial insights for informed business decisions.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess a professional qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, or ACA, with experience in a management accounts role within a similarly sized business, preferably in a senior capacity. A strong background in planning, reporting, and financial analysis is essential, along with advanced Excel skills including data analysis and financial modelling. Familiarity with ERP systems such as ERPx is required, with an ability to quickly learn new systems. You should be self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of identifying and implementing process improvements. Strong stakeholder management skills are necessary to engage effectively with resort finance teams and support office teams in building relationships.
