Head of Procurement & Supply Chain
£50-70k basic salary (based on experience), plus employee benefits
Office-based, hands‑on operational role
Manufacturing / Retail / FMCG
⏳ Start date: ASAP
What you’ll be doing:
We’re supporting a global consumer brand that is scaling rapidly and modernising its end‑to‑end supply chain. The business has been trusted by customers for decades and is now building a modern operations function that is data‑led, customer‑focused and commercially sharp.
As Head of Procurement & Supply Chain you’ll own the full process from forecast to delivery. You’ll lead procurement, supplier performance, inbound logistics, inventory management and warehouse control while driving planning excellence through S&OP.
You’ll be the senior owner of Microsoft Business Central data and parameters (MRP/MPS), ensuring clean reliable information drives the plan. Collaboration is key, working closely with Commercial, NPD, Finance and Operations to deliver outstanding service, cost control and operational reliability.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead the monthly S&OP process to reconcile demand with supply and set the 0–26 week supply plan
* Chair the weekly 12‑month rolling forecast review for key channels such as Amazon
* Challenge assumptions, surface risks and convert approved demand into a clear, time‑phased supply plan
Procurement Leadership
* Own supplier strategy for raw materials, packaging and finished goods
* Run RFQs, negotiate terms and implement supplier scorecards across OTIF, quality, cost and risk
* Protect margin through careful landed cost and PPV management
NPD Enablement
* Partner with NPD to source, obtain quotes and samples, assess feasibility and onboard new vendors
* Ensure all materials and packaging are ready according to the critical path
Inbound Logistics & Freight
* Manage bookings, customs and delivery scheduling
* Coordinate customs clearance with agents, mitigate lead time risks and monitor cost versus service
Inventory & Warehouse
* Set stock policies including safety stock, MOQ and reorder points
* Improve stock turns and reduce aged or obsolete exposure
* Oversee stock accuracy, cycle counts and pick/pack OTIF performance
SKU Lifecycle Management
* Maintain a rolling slow‑mover list and agree actions with Commercial teams
* Recommend and implement SKU reductions where complexity outweighs value
Business Central Ownership
* Ensure item masters, vendors, costs, BOMs and routings are accurate
* Maintain MRP/MPS parameters and drive reporting from Business Central instead of spreadsheets
Commercial Alignment
* Coordinate with Sales and Commercial on forecasts, promotions and launches to prevent stockouts
* Challenge uneconomic demand or unclear drops and present options that balance service, cost and cash
Production Interface
* Work closely with the Production Manager to align materials and capacity
* Translate supply plans into executable production schedules and resolve constraints in real time
People & Continuous Improvement
* Lead and coach the Supply Chain Manager and collaborate with Warehouse and Logistics leads
* Establish daily huddles, weekly supply reviews and quarterly supplier reviews
* Identify cost, service and process improvements through standard work and SOPs
Governance & Controls
* Maintain PO authorisation limits, three‑way match discipline and supplier onboarding checks
* Ensure all approvals and audit trails are enforced in Business Central
Technology Enablement
* Identify and scale technologies that improve speed, accuracy and visibility such as WMS and Power BI reporting
What we’re looking for:
* 7+ years of experience in supply chain or procurement within manufacturing or FMCG
* Strong background in S&OP, supplier management and import logistics
* Advanced user of Microsoft Business Central (MRP/MPS, purchasing, inventory)
* Highly analytical with strong Excel and data storytelling skills
* Calm and collaborative communicator able to influence across Commercial, Finance and Operations
* Detail‑led, organised and committed to continuous improvement
* Commercially assertive and able to challenge constructively when decisions impact service, cost or cash
* Experience working with Amazon channels or consumer hardgoods is advantageous
* Willing to travel to suppliers and logistics partners as needed
What success looks like:
* Improved service levels and on‑time delivery performance
* Reliable forecast accuracy and S&OP discipline
* Stronger stock turns and reduced obsolete inventory
* Controlled landed cost variance and improved freight efficiency
* Clear and accurate data in Business Central driving decisions
* Embedded cadence and collaboration between Operations, Commercial and NPD
