Overview
Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to make a full‑time appointment for a consultant psychiatrist to work in the well‑established Mental Health Liaison Team at Fairfield General Hospital. This substantive appointment will involve a lead role in consolidating recent developments within the service to meet the ‘Core 24’ standards defined by the Department of Health.
This rewarding post is in a highly supportive environment with low out‑of‑hours on‑call frequency (1 in 30) and full second‑tier cover with one day off afterwards.
Responsibilities
Clinical, liaison, educational, managerial and service evaluation roles. Clinical duties include assessment and interventions with patients in the acute trust and working with an expanding multidisciplinary liaison mental‑health team. The team will promote skill development within the acute trust and support pathway development.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a CCT in adult psychiatry or dual in adult and old‑age psychiatry, with experience in an acute hospital setting. An endorsement in liaison psychiatry is desirable but not essential. Candidates must be on the GMC's specialist register or be eligible for inclusion, or be within six months of an anticipated award of a CCT in general adult psychiatry or dual CCT at the time of interview. Section 12 and AC approval are required. The post holder must have excellent knowledge of assessing and providing mental‑health interventions for people with comorbid physical health difficulties. Part‑time applications are welcome.
