About the role
Balfour Beatty is currently recruiting a Senior Civils CAD Technician to join the Power T&D team in Scotland.

Role Purpose
Liaise with Site Operative & Design teams to produce a variety of drawings for Power Transmission & Distribution Projects. Works will mainly be Civils-driven, including Stone Haul Roads, Bellmouths, Crane Pads & Earthworks drawings, ensuring safety and compliance with BIM & client requirements, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
What you'll be doing
Key Accountabilities
Deliver satisfactory drawings for Haul Roads, Bellmouths, Crane Pads & Earthworks to enable safe and compliant solutions according to BIM & client specifications. Reports to the Design Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
* Support drawing production for various sites as a CAD Technician under a Design Team Leader.
* Understand contract document requirements and collaborate with Senior/Principal Design Engineers to meet design needs.
Contribute to delivering project-specific drawings with high standards of accuracy and quality, adhering to client and BIM requirements across departments.
* Be proactive, work independently and as part of a team, sharing knowledge and learning new skills.
* Produce Earthwork drawings, including Swept Path Analysis, using lidar & DTM data, balancing cut and fill volumes.
* Ensure deliverables meet timescales, self-check work prior to approval, and issue drawings via BIM.
* Participate in team meetings and seek continuous improvement in CAD delivery.
* Always promote a Safety by Design approach.

Who we're looking for
Preferred Qualifications
* HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or CAD (or equivalent).
* Proficient in AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D.
* Full driving license and access to a vehicle.
General Experience
* Previous CAD Technician experience in Civil Engineering.
* Knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D, GIS, Microstation, and visualization tools is beneficial.
* Experience working within a BIM environment.
