BakerHicks is looking for an experienced Planner to join a major EPCM framework project at a client’s life sciences facility in Barnard Castle. This is a hands-on role at the heart of project delivery, working alongside integrated teams to build, manage, and optimise schedules across technically complex engineering projects.
You’ll be instrumental in keeping programmes on track -spotting risks early, driving programme integrity, and helping deliver successful outcomes in a highly regulated environment.
The Role
As Planner, you’ll take ownership of developing, maintaining, and reporting on multiple project schedules. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and client stakeholders, you’ll ensure accurate, timely programme information is always available to support effective decision-making.
This role suits someone who combines strong analytical thinking with attention to detail, and who is confident collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Developing and maintaining robust EPCM project schedules
* Managing updates, changes, and progress tracking with accuracy and consistency
* Monitoring performance against baselines and highlighting variances
* Producing clear programme reports covering progress, risks, and mitigations
* Supporting resource planning and workload forecasting
* Identifying risks and contributing to mitigation and contingency plans
* Acting as a key point of contact for all planning-related matters
* Ensuring schedules meet contractual and internal governance standards
About You
You’re an experienced Planner with a background in engineering or construction projects. Experience in Life Sciences or Pharmaceuticals is ideal, but not essential. You’re comfortable working in a regulated, client-facing environment and enjoy being part of a collaborative team.
You’ll need to be on site in Barnard Castle at least 3 days per week.
What You’ll Bring
* Strong experience managing schedules across portfolio or framework projects
* Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel
* Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* A proactive, detail-focused, and collaborative mindset
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or similar (or equivalent experience)
* Primavera P6 (P103/P106) certification advantageous
* Experience in engineering and/or construction environments
* Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical project exposure beneficial
* Understanding of engineering design and construction processes
* Full UK driving licence and flexibility for site-based work
