Job Summary
We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Clinical Psychologist to lead our Employee Wellbeing service and shape the future of staff experience across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
As Head of Employee Wellbeing, you will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring our wellbeing offer is proactive, preventative, and embedded into the fabric of the organisation.
Main Duties of the Job
* Lead a dedicated team to design, deliver, and evaluate evidence‑based initiatives that build psychological safety, resilience, and engagement.
* Oversee delivery of specialist psychological assessments and interventions for individuals and teams, ensuring timely access and tailored responses to complex situations.
* Embed wellbeing into everyday practice by working closely with OD, Occupational Health and Trade Unions, and contributing to large‑scale change programmes.
* Drive research, audit and evaluation to keep the service evidence‑based and responsive to staff needs.
* Represent CTM locally and nationally, influencing policy and best practice in employee wellbeing.
* Develop policy, training and education programmes to promote wellbeing, stress awareness, and positive organisational culture.
* Lead and contribute to large‑scale organisational change projects, using psychological insights to support culture change and employee experience.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert psychological leadership, evaluation and intervention across the organisation, including in complex and high‑risk situations.
* Deliver bespoke psychological assessments and interventions for staff and teams, and oversee pathways for urgent and routine support.
* Lead organisational health reviews, using evidence‑based approaches to improve psychological safety, resilience, and staff engagement.
* Offer consultation, supervision and expert advice to counsellors, psychologists, and professional colleagues.
* Partner with OD, L&D, Occupational Health, trade unions and staff networks to ensure services are inclusive, preventative and accessible.
* Lead and contribute to large‑scale organisational change projects, using psychological insights to support culture change and employee experience.
* Drive service evaluation, research and audit, ensuring the wellbeing service is evidence-based, modernised and aligned with national standards.
* Develop policy, training and education programmes to promote wellbeing, stress awareness, and positive organisational culture.
* Represent the service at local and national levels, influencing strategy and best practice in employee wellbeing.
Key Qualifications
* Honours degree in Psychology, giving eligibility for Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
* Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, or equivalent qualification in Counselling Psychology, giving eligibility for membership of the Division of Clinical Psychology or the Division of Counselling Psychology of the British Psychological Society.
Desirable Qualifications
* Post‑doctoral qualification in organisational psychology, systemic consultancy, or leadership coaching.
* Training in complexity science, organisational development, or appreciative inquiry.
Experience
* Substantial post‑qualification clinical experience, including in employee experience and well‑being services.
* Evidence of CPD as recommended by the HCPC or British Psychological Society.
* Experience in applying psychological knowledge in complex organisations, developing, implementing and evaluating organisational interventions.
* Experience in using data to inform strategic decisions and evaluate impact (e.g., staff survey results, absence data, turnover trends).
Desirable Experience
* Management, leadership or development of Applied Psychology and/or other health services.
* Experience in NHS, large‑scale public sector, or other high‑pressure healthcare environments.
* Leading organisational responses to critical incidents and staff recovery programmes.
Skills
* Highly developed leadership and influencing skills, able to engage senior leaders and frontline teams.
* Ability to design, lead and evaluate organisation‑wide wellbeing initiatives that are preventative and systemic.
* Skills in consultation, organisational diagnostics, and team‑level psychological safety interventions.
* Emotional resilience to work with highly traumatised clients and their distressing material.
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of the professional issues affecting Applied Psychology in the NHS and familiarity with key strategic documents relevant to staff well‑being.
Circumstances
* Ability to travel independently within geographical area covered by Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
* Work independently and take responsibility for own actions, and manage personal stress levels commensurate with this grade and responsibility.
Desirable Circumstances
* Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are desirable for this role.

Pay: £78,120 to £90,013 per annum pro rata.
Contract: Permanent.
