We are looking for a Buddy/Support Worker for our client. Dean who was born in 1999, he has a passion for woodwork and enjoys stunt scootering and socialising at the local skate park. He loves live music, particularly drum and bass and enjoys going to events to watch his favourite DJs. He likes to spend time outdoors and in nature. When going on holiday he enjoys walking and spending time on the beach and swimming in the sea. He has a very close relationship with his mum.
Dean sustained a hypoxic brain injury at birth and has been hearing impaired all his life. He wears hearing aids and can lip read.
Your role will be to provide 1:1 support Dean with prompts of all of his daily living and activities as he is keen to become more independent and supported to be autonomous. To support him to source new activities that he may enjoy and to encourage and engage in current activities/leisure pursuits in the local community such as skateboarding and surfing. Dean wants to go swimming and have someone who can support his passion for woodwork. He is looking to work alongside someone that may have a few woodwork projects to hand and is able to provide companionship.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join a dedicated home care team and develop existing skills and support this very special young man. A truly rewarding role for someone who is able to communicate effectively and an ability to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth and compassion.
