Hourly Paid Lecturer in Maths
Oxfordshire Adult Learning is recruiting an enthusiastic and committed lecturer to teach across our Maths Functional Skills and GCSE programmes. This well‑established provision supports adult learners to gain essential maths qualifications, enabling them to progress into employment, further learning, or improved life opportunities.
Our Maths offer allows learners to study either Functional Skills Maths or GCSE Maths, with initial assessment used to place learners at the appropriate level and provide a clear progression route. Tutors play a key role in building confidence, developing core mathematical skills, and supporting learners to achieve nationally recognised qualifications.
The Role
* Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive maths lessons (online and in person) that meet curriculum and learner needs.
* Support learners to develop Maths and Functional Skills towards GCSE or Functional Skills qualifications.
* Use a range of teaching strategies and digital resources to support adult learners.
* Assess learner progress and provide clear, constructive feedback.
* Deliver tutorials and support personalised learning plans.
* Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to course administration.
* Promote equality, diversity, safeguarding, and independent learning.
* Engage in professional development and contribute to team and college objectives.
What We're Looking For
Essential
* Excellent teaching skills and a strong passion for Maths.
* Experience teaching Maths or a related curriculum area.
* Degree‑level qualification or equivalent.
* Qualified Teacher, or willingness to work towards a teaching qualification.
* Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
* Level 2 (or equivalent) qualifications in literacy and numeracy.
* Ability to engage and support diverse adult learner groups.
* Strong tutorial and pastoral support skills.
Desirable
* Assessor and/or Verifier qualification.
* Experience teaching within a post‑16 or adult education setting.

There is also the option to pursue Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) at a later stage.
