IT Support Contract – Service Desk Engineer

Location: Milton Keynes, UK (required on‑site three days a week, with travel to London and occasional sites in Ireland and the Netherlands)
Duration: 6‑month contract with strong possibility of permanency.
Our Group IT Team is looking to recruit a Service Desk Engineer to provide additional expertise and support during the launch of key strategic projects. This is a hands‑on role with daily interactions across the UK and global business.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
* Managing tickets with high‑quality triage, notes, communication and customer service.
* Coordinating with HR to assist new joiners with new user onboardings.
* Providing hardware break‑fix support.
* Imaging laptops and phones and managing device inventory.
* Coordinating with the logistics team on hardware deliveries.
* Providing remote technical support for users across all regions.
* Assisting with technical maintenance of UK offices (basic networking, printing and infrastructure support).
* Coordinating with other technical teams and third‑party vendors.
* Documenting changes and processes in our documentation solution when required.
Essential Qualities
* Passion for IT and technology.
* Experience supporting hardware and software (home, school or workplace).
* Confident in using Windows and/or macOS.
* Basic understanding of Microsoft Azure, Intune and Windows Server.
* Demonstrable experience meeting deadlines.
* Ability to explain basic IT concepts such as servers, clients, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, switches and routers.
* Ability to learn and research new concepts and technologies independently.
* Excellent English professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Team player.
Desirable
* 1+ years of technical experience in a similar role.
* Professional work experience.
* Confident using Linux and other technologies.
* Basic administration experience of Microsoft 365, Intune, Windows Desktop/Server, Active Directory and macOS.
* Scripting and/or programming experience.
* Industry certifications – Azure, Microsoft 365. A⁺ and Network⁺ desirable.
* Experience with ticketing systems and/or the ITIL framework.
