Disability Adviser Full time (35 hrs/wk), permanent Split place of work between Horizons (Reading, Berkshire) and Home Salary up to £29,400 pa plus benefits We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join the Disability and Welfare team and make a real difference to the student experience. As a Disability Adviser, you will work with students who have shared their disability with the University, offering support and guidance throughout their studies. You will carry out assessments, advise on reasonable adjustments and formulate support plans, taking a collaborative approach to ensuring students are well supported and on track to successfully completing their studies. By joining this team, you will help to make a real difference to the student experience not only by directly supporting current students, but by liaising with stakeholders to ensure an inclusive and holistic approach to provision is effectively implemented. Your accountabilities and responsibilities include: Support and be responsible for a case load of students, often with complex support requirements Advise students on applications for the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) and other financial support Develop and maintain relationships with external support agencies which may benefit students Maintain accurate and up to date records in relation to the support required and provided, ensuring compliance with data protection legislation and auditing requirements Our main requirements: Further education level qualifications Evidence of CPD in the fields of SpLD, Neurodiversity, non-medical help or disability Relevant demonstrable experience of paid/voluntary work of delivering pastoral support Supporting disabled people, some with complex needs, and providing relevant advice/guidance Ability to manage difficult situations sensitively and in a timely manner At University of the Built Environment we expect employees to demonstrate our values: Passion, Integrity, Excellence and Support.
