Overview
Shilstone House is a lovingly restored Grade II listed Georgian manor house on a 500-acre estate in the Devon countryside, with uninterrupted views of the rolling hills and fields, acres of gardens, farmland, and woodland, and walks to explore. The Role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Head Bartender to lead our bar team and deliver exceptional service to our guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality, a love for great drinks and customer service, and the leadership skills to inspire a high-performing team.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the day-to-day running of the bar, ensuring smooth operations during service.
* Lead, train, and motivate the bar team to deliver high standards of customer service.
* Manage stock levels, orders, and deliveries, ensuring all products are fresh and available.
* Create and update drinks menus, including cocktails, wines, and seasonal specials.
* Monitor bar costs and profitability, including waste control and efficient use of stock.
* Ensure all licensing laws and health & safety regulations are followed.
* Handle customer feedback and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.
* Maintain a clean, welcoming, and organised bar area at all times.
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in a supervisory or management role in a busy bar or hospitality setting.
* Strong leadership and people management skills.
* Excellent knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
* Ability to stay calm under pressure and lead by example.
* A keen eye for detail and commitment to quality.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Additional information
* Your own transport is essential as we are not on any bus routes
Pay & Benefits
* 7-25 hours per week – Sundays (evening openings in the pipeline)
* £13 per hour dependant on age and experience
