What you’ll be doing
as an Electrical and Mechanical Technician
1. Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and performing repairs during incidents.
2. Installing, modifying, and commissioning new plant equipment and diagnosing and repairing faults in systems and plants.
3. Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
4. Examples of equipment that you will be working on include motors, gearboxes, screw /chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
5. Always working safely and complying with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
6. Base Location - Mill Green (Hatfield), AL9 5PE.
7. 38 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Plus, you will be included on a 1 week in every 6 weeks out-of-hours emergency standby rota, for which you receive additional payments.
What you should bring to the role
8. You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems working in a “true multi-skilled” capacity. Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship.
9. Experience in maintaining, testing, installing and fault diagnosis on electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
10. An ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering is desirable.
11. Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
12. The work requires you to work in confined spaces with the successful completion of appropriate training.
13. You will require a valid driving licence.

21. Offering base salary up to £40,000 per annum, plus standby & overtime opportunities. Increasing earnings by a potential £8,000 - £10,000.
