Purpose of this role
To lead the bulk connection process with incumbents and support in the design assessment, modelling review and inspection of the wastewater distribution networks and off-site points of discharge.
Your Key Responsibilities Are
Ensure IWNL surface water, foul water assets including; manholes, sewers, pumping stations, rising mains and SuDS/Attenuation features are designed, installed, and maintained to industry lead standards.
Including design review to the latest adoption standards, system modelling and hydraulic analysis and construction detail assessment.
To support in the production of Section104 agreements, liaise with developers and their solicitors to progress to completion.
Support our asset surveying team and assist with the final adoption of the networks.
To ensure connections are delivered to suit client timescales.
Providing advice and technical knowledge to respond to project design queries, issues, and other challenges throughout the project delivery.
Coordinate with incumbent water companies to ensure that points of discharge are coordinated with designers, developers, and incumbents.
To support the Head of Assets to ensure infrastructure assets are adopted in line with corporate policy so that they can be operated and maintained by the Operations Team as "fit for purpose" and in accordance with current industry best practice of wastewater regulations.
To undertake wastewater modelling of proposed networks to ensure fit for purpose.
Work closely with the construction and asset management teams, ensuring a smooth transition from construction to adoption.
Work with the Asset Team in developing asset adoption and maintenance strategies for inclusion within capital development plans.
Support in delivering cost effective measures to benefit the management and operation of water and wastewater assets.
Mitigate the risk of financial penalties being imposed by OFWAT.
Demonstrate compliance with best practice and regulatory requirements.
Ensure compliance with current Water Industry Regulations, group policies, British and International standards, industry codes of practice and safety procedures.
Seek and embrace opportunities to adopt new technologies to maximise financial and operational benefits to IWNL.
Other duties as defined by the business that fall within the general experience scope of the individual, which may include work on behalf of other operating divisions of BUUK from time to time.
Qualifications
Hold a suitable recognised engineering or scientific qualification.
Experience/Knowledge
Experience in the wastewater industry in relation to below ground asset design and installation.
Abilities/Skills
Project management skills associated with project delivery.
Able to work coherently in a team and independently.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
Be Chartered or near Chartered in a suitable discipline.
Conditions of Employment
You are required to have your criminal records checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This is due to going into customers' homes.
You will be required to participate in a standby rota.
